The AI model wars are genuinely confusing right now. New models drop every few weeks with competing benchmark claims. But for practical prompt engineering, benchmarks matter less than real-world task performance. We've tested all three models with our entire prompt library β€” here's what we found.

ChatGPT (GPT-4o) is the most versatile general-purpose model. It handles a wide range of tasks competently, has the largest plugin ecosystem, and most users find its output style natural and readable. Its weakness: it can be sycophantic (agreeing with you even when you're wrong) and sometimes adds unnecessary caveats.

Claude (3.5 Sonnet) is our recommendation for long-form writing, code, and complex reasoning. It follows multi-step instructions more reliably than GPT-4o, has a larger context window, and produces cleaner, more structured output. It's less creative for open-ended tasks but more reliable for precision tasks.
